      Why It Works

      The learning connection

Creating a visual tool like a Mood Meter supports embodied cognition, allowing children to connect feelings with colors and visual cues. Regular tracking enhances their ability to recognize emotional changes, fostering resilience through awareness.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Gather materials: paper, colors, and a ruler. 2. Draw a large circle and divide it into 5 sections for different moods (happy, sad, angry, excited, calm). 3. Color each section with a different color that represents the mood. 4. Each day, ask how you feel and color in the mood that matches your emotions. 5. At the end of the week, look back at your Mood Meter and notice any patterns. 6. Share your findings with family — which mood was most common?
