      Why It Works

      The learning connection

Visual tools like the Mood Meter engage children with embodied cognition, allowing them to connect abstract emotions to real-life experiences. By regularly tracking their feelings, they practice self-regulation and become more aware of their emotional states.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Gather a large sheet of paper, colors, and a ruler. 2. Draw a vertical line dividing the paper into five sections labeled: Happy, Sad, Angry, Calm, Excited. 3. Assign colors to each emotion and fill sections with those colors. 4. At the end of each day, select an emotion that reflects your day and color it on the meter. 5. Share your feelings with Amma or Appa and discuss why you felt that way. 6. Reflect on patterns: Are you happier on weekends?
