      Why It Works

      The learning connection

Using a game like Jenga incorporates embodied cognition, where children physically engage with the concept of stacking time-sensitive tasks. The challenge to balance blocks while planning creates a context for self-monitoring and helps them internalize effective time management strategies.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Gather 15 Jenga blocks and a timer. 2. Write down 5 daily tasks on separate slips of paper. 3. Place the slips in a bowl and mix them up. 4. Set the timer for 10 minutes to stack tasks by priority on the Jenga tower. 5. Carefully place one block at a time, narrating why each task is prioritized. 6. Discuss what happens if tasks are not balanced — does the tower fall?
