      Why It Works

      The learning connection

Incorporating physical activity and competition boosts motivation and retention. By using the dual-task challenge approach, children engage both their bodies and minds, reinforcing their memory pathways through embodied cognition.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Gather 10 small items like coins, buttons, or toys and place them on a table. 2. Blindfold the first participant and let them touch and memorize the items for 30 seconds. 3. Remove 3 items while they’re still blindfolded and challenge them to recall the missing ones. 4. Once done, take off the blindfold and see if they remember the items and the missing ones. 5. Swap roles and repeat until everyone gets a turn. 6. Time each round, trying to improve speed and accuracy on each attempt!
