Employing a dual-task challenge, this game leverages cognitive load theory by asking children to hold information while simultaneously processing new input. The excitement of matching pairs increases retention through emotional engagement.
1. Gather 16 small cards and write numbers or shapes on them (8 pairs). 2. Shuffle and lay the cards face down in a 4x4 grid. 3. Take turns flipping two cards at a time, trying to find a match. 4. If the cards match, keep them; if not, turn them back over. 5. Remember the locations of cards to improve your next turn. 6. Count how many pairs each player collected — who has the best memory?
