      Why It Works

      The learning connection

Engaging in role-play activates embodied cognition, as children physically act out shopping scenarios. The excitement of choosing items and managing money promotes retention and understanding of financial concepts through active participation.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Set up a ‘store’ using household items as products (toys, snacks). 2. Assign prices to each item using sticky notes. 3. Give your child a set amount of play money (₹50) using real or fake coins. 4. Let them choose items to 'purchase' while counting coins. 5. Help them calculate total costs and any change needed. 6. Discuss their choices: Did they buy needs or wants?
