      Why It Works

      The learning connection

Embodied cognition emphasizes learning through physical actions, making abstract concepts tangible. When children act out traits, they engage in meaningful practice that reinforces their understanding of leadership in a collaborative environment.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Write down 5 leadership traits on separate pieces of paper (e.g., courage, vision). 2. Fold the papers and place them in a bowl. 3. Take turns drawing a paper and acting out the trait without speaking. 4. The other participants must guess the trait being acted out. 5. Discuss why each trait is important in a leader after guessing. 6. Create new traits and repeat — can you act them out differently?
