      Why It Works

      The learning connection

By walking to landmarks and searching for letters, children engage their senses and reinforce learning through embodied cognition. This physical activity helps cement knowledge of surroundings while creating a connection between letters and their meanings.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Choose 3 local landmarks to explore together (like a park, temple, or market). 2. Take a large piece of paper and write down the letters of the alphabet on it. 3. At each landmark, find objects or signs that start with different letters. 4. Write down the found letters next to the corresponding landmark on your paper. 5. After visiting all landmarks, create a word using the letters collected. 6. Share your new word with family members and explain its meaning.
