Children learn empathy by reflecting on and recognizing kind actions towards others. This activity builds their awareness of positive behaviors and motivates them to act kindly in their daily lives.
Reflecting on kindness reinforces social-emotional learning through Vygotsky's scaffolding, allowing children to understand and internalize empathy by observing and recounting their experiences and those of others.
1. Take an empty jar and decorate it with colorful paper or stickers. 2. Find small pieces of paper and write down one act of kindness you did or witnessed each day. 3. Fold the papers and drop them into the jar. 4. At the end of the week, read the notes together with your family. 5. Discuss how these acts made everyone feel and their impact. 6. Set a goal for more acts of kindness next week!
