Children learn the value of kindness by creating tangible reminders of good deeds. This activity encourages them to recognize and reflect on their actions, leading to a stronger internal compass for empathy.
By connecting actions to physical objects, children use embodied cognition to remember and value kindness. Each time they add a slip to the jar, they reinforce positive behavior through dual coding — visual and physical representations intertwine with emotional growth.
1. Take a clean glass jar and decorate it with colorful paper and stickers. 2. Cut small pieces of paper into slips (about 3x5 cm). 3. Write or draw one act of kindness on each slip (e.g., helping Amma with chores). 4. Fold each slip and place it in the jar. 5. Set a goal to fill the jar by the end of the week. 6. Share with your family the stories behind each kindness slip.
