What this lesson teaches

This activity encourages children to think about kindness by visualizing their good deeds. Creating a kindness jar helps them remember and value small daily acts of kindness, fostering empathy and social connection.

      Why It Works

      The learning connection

Using a physical jar to collect kindness notes utilizes dual coding theory, linking the concept of kindness to a tangible representation. Each note acts as a unique reinforcement, making the idea of kindness more memorable as it accumulates visually.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Get an empty jar (like a pickle jar) and clean it. 2. Cut colored paper into small strips (about 10 cm long). 3. Write one kind act you will do on each strip — like helping Amma or sharing with Bhaiya. 4. Fold each strip and place it in the jar. 5. Every day, pick one strip and do the act written on it. 6. At the end of the week, share your favorite kindness experience with your family.
