      Why It Works

      The learning connection

The sensory experience of crafting and the act of writing out feelings enhances retention of gratitude practices. According to Bruner's CPA approach, by using a concrete object (the jar) and progressively abstracting their feelings (the notes), children internalize gratitude effectively.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Gather a clean jar and colorful paper scraps. 2. Cut the paper into small squares. 3. Write down 5 things you are grateful for on separate pieces. 4. Fold each paper and place it inside the jar. 5. Decorate the jar with markers or stickers to make it special. 6. Share what you wrote with a family member — how does it make you feel?
