    How the activity runs

      Why It Works

      The learning connection

Writing gratitude notes uses embodied cognition — the act of physically writing reinforces memory and emotional connection. This practice encourages mindfulness, making them aware of the positive aspects of their daily lives.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Gather a large jar, colored paper, and a pen. 2. Cut the colored paper into small strips (about 5 cm wide). 3. Sit together and think of things you’re grateful for — aim for at least 5. 4. Write each gratitude note on a strip of paper, one feeling per strip. 5. Fold the strips and place them in the jar as a family. 6. Share your favorite note at the end of the week — how did it make you feel?
