This activity teaches children to control their breathing, which enhances focus and calmness. By visualizing their breath like a balloon, kids intuitively learn to manage their emotions and reduce anxiety.
Using embodied cognition, children physically connect the act of breathing with the image of a balloon. This playful approach not only reinforces breathing techniques but also helps regulate their emotional states, allowing them to concentrate better in various situations.
1. Grab a balloon and hold it in front of you. 2. Inhale deeply through your nose, imagining the balloon inflating. 3. Exhale slowly through your mouth, picturing the balloon deflating. 4. Repeat this 5 times, focusing on how the balloon grows and shrinks. 5. Share your balloon breath with a family member and guide them through it. 6. Discuss how you feel before and after the activity.
