      Why It Works

      The learning connection

By engaging in deep breathing, children activate their parasympathetic nervous system, promoting relaxation. This aligns with Vygotsky's scaffolding principle, where children learn to independently manage their focus with practice.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Sit comfortably on the floor with legs crossed. 2. Hold your hands in front of you, palms together. 3. Inhale deeply through your nose, imagining filling a balloon in your belly. 4. Exhale slowly through your mouth, feeling the balloon deflate. 5. Repeat this 5 times, counting each breath. 6. Share how your body feels after practicing deep breathing.
