      The learning connection

Engaging multiple senses enhances memory retention through dual coding theory. By actively seeking out sounds, children strengthen their auditory processing skills while having fun.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Gather 5 different small objects that make sounds (like a drum, bell, or spoon). 2. Place the objects at different spots around your home. 3. Close your eyes and have a family member make a sound with one object. 4. Open your eyes and try to find where the sound is coming from. 5. Once found, make a sound with that object and let others find it! 6. Repeat with different objects and see how quickly you can find each sound.
