This activity develops visual discrimination and pattern recognition. Children learn to identify and categorize shapes, enhancing their spatial awareness and problem-solving skills.
Using embodied cognition, children connect physical shapes to their properties while actively seeking them out. This movement and exploration fosters deeper engagement and retention of shape concepts.
1. Gather 6 different shape cutouts (circle, square, triangle, etc.). 2. Hide them around a room. 3. Set a timer for 10 minutes. 4. Search for all the hidden shapes, identifying them as you find each. 5. Draw the shapes you found on paper. 6. Share your findings and see which shapes others discovered!
