This activity teaches children the steps of effective handwashing through a fun art project. By associating colors with each step, children can remember the process better and understand the importance of cleanliness for health.
Using embodied cognition, children connect physical actions (washing hands) with visual aids (colors). This multisensory approach reinforces memory retention, making the handwashing routine more memorable and engaging.
1. Gather a large sheet of paper, colors, and a bowl of water. 2. Draw a rainbow on the paper with 5 sections, each representing a handwashing step. 3. Write each handwashing step in the sections (wet, soap, scrub, rinse, dry). 4. Practice washing your hands while referring to each section. 5. Discuss with your family why each step is important for health. 6. Hang your rainbow in the bathroom as a reminder!
