      Why It Works

      The learning connection

By associating physical movement with goal-setting, children experience embodied cognition, where their physical actions reinforce mental concepts. Hitting targets requires concentration, encouraging them to visualize their goals and persist through challenges.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Create a dartboard with 5 sections on a piece of cardboard, labeling each section with a different personal goal. 2. Gather 5 darts or small paper balls. 3. Stand 2 steps away from the dartboard. 4. Focus on the dartboard and pick one goal to achieve today. 5. Toss your dart aiming for that specific goal section. 6. Reflect on how reaching your goal feels — did hitting the target help you focus more?
