This activity teaches children to control their breathing and focus their minds. By simulating the rhythmic movements of a train, kids learn patience and mindfulness while regulating their breath.
Embodied cognition allows children to connect breathing with physical movement, making the learning experience memorable. Following a rhythmic pattern reinforces the importance of breath control and focus, enhancing their ability to stay calm and attentive.
1. Sit in a comfortable position with your family in a circle. 2. Pretend to be a train, ready to start the journey. 3. Take a deep breath in, filling your lungs like a train filling with steam. 4. Slowly breathe out while making a 'chug-chug' sound. 5. Repeat this for 5 rounds, gradually making the 'chug' sound louder. 6. Discuss how you felt before and after the breathing train journey.
