      Why It Works

      The learning connection

Engaging in juggling utilizes embodied cognition by connecting physical movement to cognitive processes. As children practice coordination and timing, they elevate their mental focus and spatial awareness, aligning with Vygotsky's scaffolding principle of building skills through incremental challenges.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Gather 3 soft balls (or rolled socks). 2. Stand in an open space with room to move. 3. Start with one ball: toss it from one hand to the other. 4. Add a second ball: toss the first, then quickly toss the second to the opposite hand. 5. Finally, add the third ball: keep the rhythm of tossing one ball at a time in a continuous cycle. 6. Challenge family members to join and see who can juggle the longest!
