Embodied cognition shows that physical actions, like breathing deeply, directly affect mental processes. As children inflate the balloon, they learn to synchronize their breath with their focus, enhancing their ability to concentrate under pressure.
1. Grab a balloon and sit in a quiet space. 2. Take a deep breath in through your nose for 4 seconds. 3. Blow into the balloon slowly for 4 seconds, filling it up. 4. Hold your breath for 4 seconds, keeping the balloon inflated. 5. Release the air slowly for 4 seconds, deflating the balloon. 6. Repeat this process 5 times — can you make the balloon bigger each time?
