      Why It Works

      The learning connection

Through the process of creating a flipbook, children engage in dual coding theory, combining verbal storytelling with visual art. This multimodal approach reinforces cognitive processing, allowing them to conceptualize movement and sequence in a tangible way.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Gather 20 pieces of small paper (5x7 inches) and a pencil. 2. On the first page, draw the start of your character's action (like jumping). 3. On the next page, change the position slightly and draw again. 4. Repeat this for all 20 pages, slightly altering the drawing each time. 5. Stack the pages in order and hold them together with a clip. 6. Flip through the pages quickly to see your character come to life!
