      Why It Works

      The learning connection

Creating a flipbook utilizes embodied cognition, where children physically create a sequence that leads to motion. This hands-on approach not only reinforces their understanding of animation principles but also fosters creativity as they experiment with different movements.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Gather 10 small pieces of paper and a pencil. 2. Draw the first frame of your animation on the first paper. 3. Slightly change the drawing on the next paper, and repeat until the last frame. 4. Stack the papers in order and secure them with a clip. 5. Flip through the pages quickly to see your animation come alive! 6. Show your flipbook to Amma or Appa — what do they think?
