      Why It Works

      The learning connection

Sudoku engages the brain through a structured puzzle that requires analytical thinking. Using Vygotsky's scaffolding, children receive hints and work through challenges that match their skill level, facilitating gradual mastery of deductive reasoning.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Draw or print a blank 6x6 Sudoku grid. 2. Fill in 4 numbers randomly in different cells, ensuring they follow Sudoku rules. 3. Set a timer for 15 minutes. 4. Start filling in the remaining cells while following the rules (no repeating numbers in rows/columns). 5. Once completed, check your solution against the rules. 6. Challenge a family member to complete their own grid in under the same time limit!
