Embodied cognition principles suggest that recognizing and labeling emotions through physical representation aids in emotional regulation. This hands-on approach transforms abstract feelings into tangible experiences, building a deeper understanding of emotional states.
1. Gather materials: a large sheet of paper, markers, and a ruler. 2. Draw a vertical line down the center of the paper to create two columns. 3. Label one side 'Positive' and the other 'Negative'. 4. Create different mood faces (happy, sad, angry, calm) and color them. 5. Each day, pick a mood face that represents your feelings and place it on the corresponding side. 6. Discuss your moods with a family member and share what made you feel that way.
