This activity helps children recognize and articulate their emotions through colors. By associating feelings with specific colors, they learn to manage their emotional states effectively and communicate better with others.
Using colors to represent emotions taps into embodied cognition, allowing children to visualize and differentiate their feelings. Creating a tangible Mood Wheel also engages them in reflective practice, enhancing emotional regulation skills as they connect feelings with actions.
1. Gather materials: paper, colors, and a pair of scissors. 2. Draw a large circle on the paper and divide it into 8 sections. 3. Choose different colors and assign them to specific emotions (e.g., red for anger, blue for sadness). 4. Color each section according to your assignments. 5. Share your Mood Wheel with family and discuss what each color means to you. 6. Use the Mood Wheel daily to express how you feel.
