This activity enables children to identify and articulate emotions through color association. By personalizing their mood, they learn to recognize feelings and develop emotional regulation skills essential for well-being.
Utilizing embodied cognition, children physically express emotions through colors, making feelings more tangible and easier to articulate. The visual wheel allows them to categorize emotions, enhancing their emotional vocabulary and regulation strategies through engaging play.
1. Gather materials: paper, colors, and a ruler. 2. Draw a large circle on the paper. 3. Divide the circle into segments like a pizza for different emotions. 4. Assign colors to each emotion (e.g., blue for sad, yellow for happy). 5. Color each segment and write the emotion inside. 6. Share your Mood Wheel with Amma or Appa and discuss your feelings!
