By using color to represent emotions, children engage in embodied cognition, making feelings more tangible. Creating a wheel enables them to visualize fluctuating moods and practice emotional regulation, solidifying their understanding of complex emotions.
1. Gather materials: a paper plate, colors, and a pencil. 2. Divide the plate into 6 sections and label each with different emotions (happy, sad, angry, excited, calm, anxious). 3. Choose a color that represents each emotion; color each section accordingly. 4. Share with your family how you feel today by pointing to your color wheel. 5. Discuss why you chose those colors for your feelings. 6. Reflect on how you can manage challenging emotions using your color wheel.
