This activity helps children understand the basics of entrepreneurship by encouraging them to think creatively about business ideas. By grouping ideas, they learn to identify potential opportunities and develop a sense of initiative.
Using a visual and tactile approach engages children in the entrepreneurial process. The idea jar system leverages dual coding theory, as children create mental images of their concepts while physically interacting with materials.
1. Gather 5 empty glass or plastic jars. 2. Label each jar with a different category: 'Food', 'Tech', 'Fashion', 'Services', 'Games'. 3. Write down at least 3 unique business ideas for each category on small pieces of paper. 4. Fold and place the papers into their respective jars. 5. Share your ideas with a family member and discuss which ones you find most exciting! 6. Reflect on which jar had the most ideas and why!
