This activity encourages children to express and identify emotions in a tangible way. By associating feelings with physical objects, they learn to recognize and empathize with others' emotions.
Using embodied cognition, children learn better when they manipulate materials that represent emotions. Filling jars with objects tied to feelings allows for deeper emotional connections, fostering empathy and kindness in interpersonal relationships.
1. Gather 3 small jars and label them with 'Happy', 'Sad', and 'Angry'. 2. Find 5 objects that represent each feeling (e.g., a smiley face for Happy). 3. Place the objects inside the corresponding jars. 4. Discuss with a family member what each object means. 5. Share a time when you felt each emotion and why. 6. Reflect on how you can show empathy to others experiencing those feelings.
