This activity helps children recognize and appreciate kind actions in their daily lives. By physically adding reminders of these moments, children develop a deeper emotional connection to empathy and kindness.
Engaging with physical artifacts, like a kindness jar, leverages embodied cognition, where kids learn through tangible experiences. By reflecting on their actions and those of others, they strengthen their understanding of empathy in real contexts.
1. Get an empty jar or container and decorate it with colorful paper or stickers. 2. Find small pieces of paper and cut them into strips. 3. Each day, write down one kind act you did or saw someone do. 4. Fold the paper and drop it into the jar. 5. At the end of the week, read through the notes together and discuss them. 6. How did these acts of kindness make you feel? Share your thoughts!
