Children express empathy by choosing plants that symbolize different emotions. This activity encourages them to think deeply about feelings and how to communicate them through nature.
Using embodied cognition, children connect emotions with tangible objects — plants. This facilitates emotional understanding by linking abstract feelings to physical representations, increasing their social awareness.
1. Gather small pots, soil, and seeds (like sunflower or marigold). 2. Choose a feeling for each pot (joy, sadness, peace). 3. Write the feeling on the pot with a marker. 4. Plant the seeds in the pots with your chosen feeling. 5. Water the plants and place them in sunlight. 6. Share with family what each plant represents and why.
