This activity helps children identify and express different emotions through body movement. By relating feelings to physical actions, they develop empathy and a deeper understanding of others' emotional states.
Using embodied cognition, children physically explore emotions, making connections between feelings and actions. This kinesthetic approach helps them remember and relate to emotions in real-life scenarios, as they enact and observe emotional expressions.
1. Gather 5 different colored sheets of paper, each representing an emotion (happy, sad, angry, surprised, scared). 2. Spread the sheets around a room. 3. Choose one sheet and act out the emotion without speaking. 4. Others guess the emotion you're portraying. 5. Rotate sheets and repeat with different emotions. 6. Discuss how each emotion felt while acting it out — how did it change your body?
