What this lesson teaches

Children learn to identify and articulate emotions by creating personalized cards. This helps them understand their own feelings and develop emotional regulation skills, which are vital for social interactions and mental well-being.

      Why It Works

      The learning connection

Using Bruner's CPA approach, children first create concrete representations of emotions, then progress to picturing them in scenarios, enhancing their ability to verbalize feelings and cope with them. This activity also leverages Vygotsky's scaffolding by encouraging family discussions around emotions, enhancing emotional intelligence.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Gather materials: colorful paper, scissors, and markers. 2. Cut the paper into rectangular cards (5 cm x 10 cm). 3. Write down different emotions on each card (happy, sad, angry, etc.). 4. Illustrate each emotion with drawings or stickers. 5. Share your cards with family and discuss scenarios that trigger these emotions. 6. Reflect on how to handle these feelings together.
