Visual tools like the Emotion Wheel utilize dual coding theory, linking words with images. This makes it easier for children to recall and express their emotions, enhancing emotional regulation skills.
1. Gather a paper plate, colors, and a pen. 2. Divide the plate into 8 sections, like a pizza. 3. Label each section with a different emotion (happy, sad, angry, etc.). 4. Color each section differently to make it vibrant. 5. Share your wheel with family and discuss when you've felt each emotion. 6. Reflect on a time you felt a strong emotion and how you managed it.
