This activity encourages children to identify and articulate their feelings through creative expression. By linking emotions to visual symbols, they learn to recognize and discuss their emotional responses openly.
Using embodied cognition, children physically manipulate materials to represent emotions, reinforcing their understanding of feelings. The creative process helps lower cognitive load, making emotional concepts more accessible and memorable.
1. Gather colored paper, scissors, and a glue stick. 2. Cut out various shapes representing different emotions (happy, sad, angry). 3. Choose an emotion you want to express and select colors that represent it. 4. Arrange and glue the shapes on a larger sheet of paper to create your mosaic. 5. Share your mosaic with family, explaining why you chose those emotions. 6. Reflect on how each color and shape makes you feel and what that says about you.
