Engaging in role-play taps into embodied cognition, allowing children to physically experience emotions. By acting out and guessing feelings, they develop emotional intelligence and improve social skills through interactive play.
1. Write down 5 emotions on slips of paper (happy, sad, angry, surprised, scared). 2. Fold the slips and place them in a bowl. 3. Take turns drawing a slip and acting out the emotion without speaking. 4. The others guess the emotion being acted out. 5. Discuss a time you felt that emotion and how it affected you. 6. Can you use your guess to help someone else who feels that way?
