      Why It Works

      The learning connection

Incorporating physical movement with auditory challenges promotes embodied cognition, where children physically engage with their environment while honing their listening skills. This active processing strengthens neural pathways for better sound recognition.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Gather 5 objects that make sounds (e.g., bell, spoon, crumpled paper, water bottle, toy). 2. Blindfold your child to heighten their listening experience. 3. One at a time, make sounds with each object from a distance. 4. Ask your child to guess what each object is without looking. 5. After guessing, reveal the object and discuss the sound it makes. 6. Switch roles and let your child create sounds for you to identify!
