      Why It Works

      The learning connection

Debate fosters embodied cognition as children physically engage in expressing their views. The structure of preparing and presenting arguments enhances cognitive load management, allowing them to organize their thoughts while maintaining focus on their position.

      Try it with your learner

      1. Choose a fun topic: 'Cats vs. Dogs' or 'Summer vs. Winter'. 2. Split into two teams: one for and one against the topic. 3. Spend 5 minutes brainstorming points for your side on paper. 4. Take turns presenting your arguments for 1 minute each. 5. After all arguments, engage in a 2-minute rebuttal round. 6. Reflect on which arguments were most convincing and why.
