This activity helps children recognize and articulate different emotions through movement. By associating feelings with physical actions, they build emotional intelligence and learn to communicate their feelings effectively.
By using embodied cognition, children connect their bodily movements to emotional states, making feelings more relatable and easier to express. This physical representation helps them remember and identify emotions in everyday situations.
1. Gather a large sheet of paper and colorful markers. 2. Think of 5 different emotions (happy, sad, angry, excited, scared). 3. Assign a dance move to each emotion and practice them. 4. Draw a chart with the 5 emotions and illustrate each with a dancing stick figure. 5. Show your family the chart and dance the moves together. 6. Discuss how each emotion feels and when you might experience them.
