      Why It Works

      The learning connection

The act of writing and reflecting on positive experiences engages children emotionally and cognitively, enhancing their social-emotional skills. This embodies Bruner's CPA approach, as children move from the concrete act of crafting to the abstract concept of gratitude.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Gather a clean jar, colored paper, and markers. 2. Cut colored paper into small squares, around 5cm x 5cm. 3. Sit together and think of 5 things you’re grateful for. 4. Write each gratitude note on a square of paper. 5. Fold the notes and place them in the jar. 6. Decorate the jar with stickers or ribbons and display it proudly.
