Using the tangible concept of a pizza engages children and aids in understanding fractions. The embodied experience of cutting and sharing pizzas leverages embodied cognition, enabling them to physically see and comprehend how fractions operate in real life.
1. Cut out a large circle from colored paper for the pizza base. 2. Divide the circle into 4 equal parts and cut them out as slices. 3. Color each slice differently to make it fun. 4. Put together different combinations — how many ways can you make 1 whole pizza? 5. Share your pizza with family — what fractions did you create? 6. Discuss with someone how many slices make up different fractions.
