      Why It Works

      The learning connection

Engaging with art through creation allows children to express and connect with cultural stories. This taps into Bruner's CPA approach, where children move from concrete experiences to abstract understanding by building their own mosaics.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Gather colorful paper, scissors, and a large sheet of cardboard. 2. Research 3 different cultures and their symbols or traditional patterns. 3. Cut out shapes that represent each culture in vibrant colors. 4. Arrange and glue these shapes onto the cardboard to form a mosaic. 5. Label each section with the culture's name and a brief description. 6. Share your mosaic with family and discuss what each culture means to you.
