Role play engages children in embodied cognition, allowing them to physically act out concepts of rights and responsibilities. This experiential learning fosters empathy and greater retention of societal values as they step into different perspectives.
Try it with your learner
1. Write down 5 different human rights on slips of paper. 2. Write 5 corresponding responsibilities on separate slips. 3. Mix them in a bowl and take turns picking one of each. 4. Create a short skit that demonstrates the picked right and responsibility. 5. Perform the skit for your family, encouraging everyone to guess the rights and responsibilities. 6. Discuss what you learned about the relationship between rights and responsibilities.
