Mindful breathing leverages embodied cognition, as physical actions like inhaling and exhaling actively engage the body and mind. It also utilizes Vygotsky's scaffolding by encouraging children to practice in a supportive environment, gradually increasing their ability to self-regulate.
1. Sit comfortably on a mat or chair with your back straight. 2. Close your eyes gently and place your hands on your belly. 3. Inhale deeply through your nose, feeling your belly rise. 4. Hold your breath for a count of 4. 5. Exhale slowly through your mouth, feeling your belly fall. 6. Repeat this cycle for 5 minutes, counting your breaths and noticing any changes in how you feel.
