      Why It Works

      The learning connection

Incorporating physical action, like inflating a balloon, activates embodied cognition, allowing children to link their breath to the balloon's expansion. This tangible feedback helps solidify the breathing technique, promoting focus and relaxation.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Take a deflated balloon and hold it in your hand. 2. Take a slow, deep breath in through your nose, filling your belly. 3. While exhaling slowly through your mouth, inflate the balloon gently. 4. Continue breathing deeply and inflate the balloon until it’s full. 5. Release the air and repeat the breathing exercise. 6. Share how you feel before and after the activity.
