      Mindfulness practices engage the brain's prefrontal cortex, which is responsible for decision-making and focus. Engaging in focused breathing decreases cognitive load and promotes a state of flow, helping children better manage distractions and stress.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Find a quiet space to sit comfortably for 1-2 minutes. 2. Close your eyes and take a deep breath in through your nose. 3. Hold your breath for a count of 4. 4. Exhale slowly through your mouth for a count of 6. 5. Repeat this process for 5 rounds, focusing solely on your breath. 6. Share how you feel with each other after the exercise.
