      Why It Works

      The learning connection

Using embodied cognition, children physically engage in planting seeds, linking their gratitude to tangible actions. This multisensory experience helps encode emotions and memories, making gratitude a more accessible part of their daily lives.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Gather a small pot, soil, and seeds (any small flower seeds will do). 2. On pieces of paper, write 5 things you are grateful for. 3. Fold each paper and place them in the soil of the pot. 4. Plant the seeds in the same pot and cover with soil. 5. Water the seeds and place the pot in sunlight. 6. Reflect on how your gratitude can grow, just like the plants!
