Using visual tracking to monitor water intake leverages dual coding theory. By combining visuals (the tracker) with actions (drinking water), children reinforce their understanding of hydration's importance in their lives.
1. Take a large sheet of paper and draw a daily water tracker with 8 slots. 2. Label each slot with the time of day (e.g., 8 AM, 10 AM, etc.). 3. Use a sticker or color code each slot as you drink a glass of water. 4. Fill a glass with water and drink it! 5. Place a sticker in the corresponding time slot every time you drink. 6. At the end of the day, count your stickers and discuss with family how you feel!
